First and foremost, BASA advocates on behalf of the students of Ohio. BASA’s legislative efforts are based on a Legislative Platform reviewed annually by the Legislative Committee. Decisions regarding supporting or opposing legislation are made by the Executive Committee upon recommendation from the Legislative Committee.

Each weekend, the BASA staff reviews the news affecting Ohio education and prepares and edits a short summary of the most important items. The weekly one-page summary is designed to remind and inform busy school leaders of the issues about which they might be asked during the week.

Each Monday morning, BASA posts a tracking of all Ohio House and Senate bills which the staff is monitoring. Listed in numerical order, each listed bill identifies the sponsor and features a brief caption about content. A complete history of the bill shows the dates on which official action was taken on the piece of legislation. A link to supplementary information may also be available within each bill.
