Duties: The Forest Hills School District is seeking a dynamic individual who is familiar with instructional innovation and the research on school change, as well as inquiry-based curricula, balanced literacy, universal design for learning, cultural proficiency, and authentic learning to serve as the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. Successful candidates will provide dynamic, proven leadership; work collaboratively with all involved stakeholders to implement instructional improvement; and develop a strong professional culture, supported by professional growth and collaboration.

Forest Hills is a leader in instructional innovation and is consistently ranked as one of the top achieving districts in Ohio. The district encompasses Anderson Township and the Village of Newtown in suburban southeastern Cincinnati. Approximately 7300 students attend the six elementary schools, one middle school and two high schools in the district. Both high schools were ranked in the top fifty high schools in Ohio in the most recent US News and World Report review and three of the district’s elementary schools were named 2018 Hall of Fame schools by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators. The district’s middle school is designated as one of the state and national Schools to Watch.

The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning reports to the Superintendent and serves as a key member of the Superintendent’s central office administrative team.


Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration (or similar)
Minimum of 7 years successful school administrative experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience
Appropriate administrative license, or the ability to be granted one by the Ohio Department of Education
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Provides leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review, and evaluation of the district’s curriculum and instructional services, student services, diverse learners (English Language Learners, Gifted, Special Education) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, federal programs, career and technical education services, assessment, research and evaluation services
Ensures that the district/school education objectives are aligned to state frameworks and to instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence
Exhibits a strong understanding of state report card indicators and world-class performance measures and has the ability to build responsive plans to address academic performance
Leads continuous improvement efforts including an emphasis on professional learning communities, developing and monitoring continuous improvement plans
Demonstrates a high level of visibility in the school district community
Assists the Superintendent in organizing and preparing appropriate reports and in the implementation of the district’s goals, keeping instructional sections in conformance with state guidelines
With Superintendent and central office administration, periodically engage staff and community in long range planning and evaluation/revision of program goals and services
Supervises the performance and effectiveness of the directors, coordinators and principals as assigned by the Superintendent
Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent


This is a full-time (FLSA exempt) two hundred twenty-five (225) day position. A competitive, multi-year total compensation package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to the successful candidate.
