Duties: Leadership for Career Preparation

Supervise all secondary and adult career technical program staff, including Paraprofessionals working with the programs.
Direct the establishment of policies, procedures, regulations, and processes governing the functions of Career Technical Education and assure these policies are consistent with federal, state and district guidelines.
Interview and recommend highly qualified personnel as required.
Oversee workforce development and career development curriculum.
Collaborate with building administrators to ensure consistent and effective implementation of career-technical programming.
Coordinate and communicate the services and programs with all district entities.
Develop and support consortium and business partnerships.
Develop and implement recruitment programs for successful growth of the program.
Purchase equipment and do all program designing to meet the needs of the public
Work with major education reform initiatives such as High Schools that Work (HSTW); Monitor/Coordinate writing of all related grants.
Encourage teachers to partner with the community and business leaders.
Provide counselors/support personnel opportunities to work with teachers and students for proper program placement

Incorporate technology in many aspects of the curriculum.
Imbed industry accreditation into career programs for student success.
Coordinate integration of academic and career technical teaching and content.
Provides management of all operations related to the master schedule of classes for career technical programming.
Serve as curriculum leader for program areas.
Develop and implement innovative educational programs.


Collaborate with Post-Secondary Institutions for higher levels of curriculum standards, possible articulation and partnerships.
Evaluate each instructor’s success at implementing industry standards in career technical programs.
Emphasize project based learning and goal oriented, effort based instruction.
Be of assistance in allowing academic and career technical instructor’s time to work together in developing integration of content helping staff to establish rigor and relevance to curricular objectives.


Responsible for monitoring and supervising OCAP testing for career technical programs.
Coordinate all Work Keys testing for adult education career development programming.
Coordinate the GED testing programs of students in adult education.
Coordinate NAEP assessment as related to the High Schools that Work improvement model.
Compiles reports to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal required testing and data. Coordinate WebXAM for all career technical programs.
Assists with the planning of the Ohio Proficiency Test and/or Ohio Graduation Test for students. Monitors results of students in career technical programs with the testing results.

Professional Development

Provide leadership in the organization of professional development programming for all staff.
Involve staff in professional learning communities at the school and district level.
Responsible for developing staff development activities that relate to career technical programming.
Provide opportunities for staff to observe in classrooms within and across academies, visit exemplary programs, attend conferences, etc, by securing grant funds.
Attend professional meeting relevant to the work to be completed.


Complete all CCIP reporting for ODE purposes.
Prepare FTE projections, workforce development projections, and the budget for programs/departments.
Develop budget, monitor expenditures, in conformance with authorized funding, including vocational equipment budgets at all secondary schools.
Oversee the expenditures of federal and state projects and grants to ensure that all are in compliance with the objectives of the respective grants. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/district matters.
Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
Supervise and coordinate all Tech Prep duties.
Maximize funding opportunities with EMIS, state/federal grants, and private sources.
Utilize computer and technology skills to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
Work to eliminate “vocational stigma” and promote career technical programs having higher tech and higher wage outcomes for graduates.
Oversee development, coordination, implementation of programs; including scheduling of activities and arranging for supervision of events; advisory committee meetings, club meetings, etc.
Conducts and mediates conferences to resolve conflicts, discuss problems, share information, and establish goals for academic/behavioral performance.
Assist teachers in establishing meaningful goals, objectives, and proper certification.
Maintain up-to-date files on all personnel including record and evaluation of observations, conferences, etc.
Oversee that all program areas are abiding by safety regulations.
Encourage staff involvement in class and club activities, which encourages students to develop leadership qualities.
Monitor student due process rights for discipline in all programs.
Provide for securing supplies, equipment, and industrial materials.
Follow district procedures for requisitioning supplies/equipment/services.
Maintain proper accounting of activity monies.
Monitor all career technical programs in conversion schools for Mansfield City Schools.

Experience Required: Accounting for finances, budget development, grant writing and monitoring of expenses.
Demonstrated commitment to career technical programming, improving programming and establishing reform with programming.
Master’s degree or PhD in educational administration.
Experience supervising and coaching instructors in effective practice.
Experience with school reformation models.
Skill with directing the work of others and solving complex problems.
Experience with curriculum design and Standards-based Education.
Experience with industry credentialing.
Success as a team player and collaborator.
Demonstrated commitment in improving career technical curriculum.
Experience with developing and facilitating professional development program.
