Responsible for operation of all related pupil services, policies and programs including: IDEA, 504, ELL, home instruction, and foster children in support of the goals of North Ridgeville City Schools. Promotes close working relationship with parents, students and staff. Keeps the superintendent informed about emerging issues.


Provides administrative direction to assigned personnel, monitoring programs for students with disabilities under IDEA

Directs the effective delivery and continuous improvement of special education programs and services

Oversees the effective delivery of a continuum of special education services (e.g. student records, testing, speech/language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, orientation/mobility, visual/hearing, classroom paraprofessionals, special needs transportation)

Coordinates special education placement both in and out of district

Manages the School Medicaid program as directed

Complies with model policies/procedures for the education of students identified as having a disability

Participates in parent meetings (conferences, IEP, ETR)

Coordinates Child Find

Oversees alternative testing programs

Oversees IDEA Part B applications and program reporting requirements

Facilitates compliance with legal mandates. Participate in due process procedures as required

Serves as district contact for service providers in order to ensure proper curriculum and services are being administered and provided

Coordinate Extended School Year (ESY) services

Monitor Section 504 Plans according to regulations and train appropriate staff on policies/procedures

Serves as a liaison to social workers for students in foster care

Assists in coordination of home instruction

Coordinates ELL program

Monitors education laws, rules, and regulations

Develops and/or updates administrative procedures to comply with legal mandates

Promotes continuity of the instructional program

Participates in staff selection and orientation as directed

Plans, prepares and evaluates the budget for Pupil Personnel Department

Implement and monitor outside service providers as appropriate

Participates as an active member of the district DLT

Provides professional development on relevant topics

Performs other functions and duties as directed by the Superintendent

Experience Required:  QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid state department of education license appropriate for the position

Master's degree in Educational Administration with experience in special education, related services or previous administrative experience preferred

Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement program options/instructional practices that support the diverse learning needs of students

Comprehensive knowledge of IDEA legal requirements

Comprehensive knowledge of 504 requirements as it relates to OCR

Comprehensive knowledge of ELL

Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and conflict management skills

Ability to evaluate certified staff using state approved system

Wage or Salary:  Competitive -commensurate with education and experience
