Duties: Superintendent – Greater Johnstown School District, Cambria County, PA. Appointment on/about Winter 2018. Enrollment approximately 3,000; grades K-12. Successful candidate will possess leadership experience in a high poverty, urban setting and be an advocate for the poor and disadvantaged. Must maintain a high standard of ethics; have a record of fiscal responsibility and knowledge of fair funding requirements; and be skilled in compliance with state mandates such as the Right-to-Know Law and the Sunshine Act. The candidate must have a proven ability to maintain positive staff and board relations while fostering a collaborative environment and effectively communicating with and engaging all district stakeholders, with the ability to maximize human and financial resources. Must be skilled in the use of instructional technology; selecting, motivating, and evaluating highly qualified staff; be knowledgeable of educational trends, research, innovative practices, and in providing equal educational opportunities for a diversified student body. Successful candidate will have a proven record in community engagement with strong public relations skills and a demonstrated commitment to visiting schools to monitor school climate, effectiveness of programs, classroom instruction, and student learning. Focus will be on research-based instructional models and learning designs that will promote student collaboration, communication, creativity, and achievement. Salary negotiable and will be competitive, based on training and experience, qualifications and meeting board criteria including but not limited to the skills listed above. Approximate Work Hours or Days: 50-60 hrs/week
